spraying 🤬 it happens here so much. And goes straight into our waterways. Just recently a large colony of freshwater crayfish were found dead from it. The local council ignore the plea to cease.
It really is so sad. It breaks my heart to think of those dead crayfish. It was their land before arrived and started messing around with it. I know there are good projects going on but this chemical spraying is just abhorrent.
As always, a very enjoyable post, i look forward to them and would like to comment on the oak tree hole as it appears to be perfectly round .I have seen one like this too, made by a lesser woodpecker in a wood not that far from where I live, maybe you have one of these birds in your woods, They are rarely seen these day so I was very lucky to spy on the one I saw. I also enjoy your YouTube video's immensely, so thank you for doing all this work and sharing with us all. Blessings Veronica /l\
Thank you for your lovely comments Veronica, both about the newsletter and YouTube channel. It’s interesting that you mention the possibility that the holes were made by a lesser spotted woodpecker as I too had wondered whether they might have been made by a woodpecker. They just seemed oversized for the purpose! But if you were lucky enough to actually spot the inhabitant of yours, that solution to the puzzle must be the front runner. Thank you for shedding some light on it, and for keeping me company here 🙏🏼x
As usual I thoroughly enjoyed reading your words x I have a very strong devotion to Mary, ever since I was a child, before I knew who she was. I discovered later in life that I had a great great grandmother who was Catholic (she came to Australia from Ireland in the 1800’s as a potato orphan)
So I do believe that’s where Mary comes from for me.
And as usual, I’ll follow these dates down here in Australia, totally opposite seasons and I’ll make the seed cake in Autumn (on Old Lady’s Day) - Thankyou Imogen x
Thank you Robyn, it’s lovely to hear you enjoyed it. I really am in awe of the way you manage to weave the dates and the seasonal observances into something that works satisfyingly for you on the other side of the world. When you do come to make the seed cake, please let me know what you think xx
