I love the flint and brick wall, your beautiful photos especially of the snowdrops make me miss home. I have been blessed to visit Norwich and Ely Cathedrals many years ago , two beautiful Cathedrals I remember Mother Julians cell.A visit to Walsingham (in the early days 60 yrs ago when it was all candle light, no electricity) and a few times as an adult. The writing about St Pega was fascinating( my maternal family has long roots in Huntingdon many happy picnics by the River Ouse)
I shall always think of her now when celebrating my bday on Jan 8th.

Happy belated birthday for 8 January Denise! Yes, you share your feast day with St Pega! With your fenland ancestry that’s certainly a connection I would recommend exploring. She is such an inspiring saint. When she was banished, rather than running away to somewhere more comfortable she went further into the wilds! Interesting to hear that you too have family connections with Huntingdon. My mum went to the grammar school there and always joked that she went to school with Samuel Pepys and Oliver Cromwell, who were both former pupils! Also I loved hearing about the shrine at Walsingham being lit only with candles. It must have been magical. Thank you for your kind words; January blessings to you x
I’m really sorry that they’re all gone, Robyn (though grateful, of course). I know it’s not exactly the same but I hope you’ll enjoy your Rowan Dance when it arrives with you all the way across the seas. Not long now before the PO will take overseas packages again!
Hi Suzy, warm wishes to you too! It’s definitely been a hot posset kind of a day. St Pega is well worth looking into and reading between the lines to try to piece together a story that speaks to us now, with today’s ideas of rewilding. I am so indignant about the way she was treated and the way she’s been been pushed aside and forgotten in comparison to her brother! But it’s nice to think we’re breathing life into her story again with our chat here.
