What lovely read this was. Great to be reminded of that wonderful song from The Detectorists and to be reminded how lucky we are that series got made, what a delight it was! I love your gruel recipe, I have often thought about how I might replicate those porridge pots where you just add water and you have done it for me! I am filing that one away somewhere for anytime I am invited camping! Lots of love from Hastings xx

Thank you so much for your lovely words Jenny and I’m glad you enjoyed that little reminder of Detectorists - what a great series. And I hope you will get some practical use from the porridge idea. It’s definitely a boon for camping and takes up hardly any space. Plus, in a sealed plastic bag it won’t get soggy if you get torrential rain (believe me, I have tested this 😆) xxx

Yes, Detectorists is one of my favourite series of all times so I had to get it in somewhere! Meant to link to a video of Johnny Flynn singing it so I must go back and do that xxx

Is Viper’s Bugloss in the Nightshade family of plants? It reminds me of Silverleaf Nightshade that we have here in Texas, US.

Lovely! Thank you – all fascinating. I really love the Swallowhead poem (I've written poems about that area too).

As a native of Cornwall now living in Brittany, I wonder whether Gudwal is our Tugdal here?
